Celebrate #GivingTuesday with a gift that will impact young lives for years to come.
San Diego Junior Lifeguard Foundation
Each year, through a generous grant from the San Diego Junior Lifeguard Foundation, our sixth-grade students participate in the San Diego Junior Lifeguard (SDJG) Outreach Program, which provides weekly swim lessons throughout the second semester at a local City of San Diego pool (Colina del Sol). Under the trained eye and guiding hand of experienced City of San Diego lifeguards, our students learn aquatic safety, drowning prevention, and the basics of freestyle swimming. Those students who pass a timed end-of-semester swim test are then eligible to apply for a scholarship from the foundation to participate in the four-week SDJG summer program for more intensive and extensive training in aquatic safety, physical fitness, and strong swimming.
For the summer of 2015, ten (10) of our students passed the timed test and have enrolled in the four-week summer program.
We are very grateful to the San Diego Junior Lifeguard Foundation, the San Diego Recreation Department (Aquatics), and the San Diego Lifeguard Service for their ongoing support.
