Jennifer’s success is remarkable, considering that when she started at Nativity ten years ago, she was reading below the third-grade level, with very limited proficiency in English. Jennifer credits much of her success to her teachers at Nativity, who encouraged her to “read everything.” When she graduated from Nativity, she was reading well above the tenth-grade level. Jennifer is an alumna of our first class of graduates and went on to the Academy of Our Lady of Peace and was involved in the school’s music club, in Spring Sing (the school’s annual marquee singing event), and in school retreats. Throughout her high school career, Jennifer stayed committed to helping others through her volunteer work at a local soup kitchen, an elderly home, and through her participation in a number of beach clean-up events. Jennifer remains actively involved in her local community now as well, most recently as a member of the San Diego-based Southwestern Choir. Jennifer is a junior at San Diego State University double majoring in business management and Spanish and has to date earned a GPA of 3.1. In the near future, she hopes to be an event planner. Currently, Jennifer is employed at Nativity Prep as a front desk office assistant.
